Upload Inc., a virtual and augmented reality-focused incubator and media company, is opening a coworking space in Los Angeles next month, which will become the firm’s new headquarters.
The under-construction 20,000-square-foot facility in Marina del Rey will feature technology including a mixed reality capture studio, 3D human scanning booth and VR demo rooms, as well as classrooms, private offices and workspace, a podcast/media studio as well as various equipment available for rent. Upload will hold a grand opening on April 13.
In addition, Upload has agreed to be exclusively represented by WME, which the company said underlines its commitment to Los Angeles — and shows the increased collaboration between showbiz and virtual and augmented reality.
“Upload LA will give the growing VR/AR community in Los Angeles access to the best resources, education and networking needed to grow in this burgeoning industry,” Taylor Freeman, founder and CEO of Upload, told TheWrap in an email. “Establishing our headquarters in LA naturally means a connection to the entertainment industry and representation by WME further supports this relationship.”
