Elton John announced on Thursday that a respiratory infection has forced him to take a time-out and cut three performances of his “The Million Dollar Piano” at Ceasars Palace in Los Vegas.
John came down with the illness onstage at The Colosseum on Sunday, and his condition worsened over the following days before he checked in to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles at 6 a.m. Wednesday.
He stayed at the hospital for tests, after which his doctor recommended the singer take a week off to rest and fight the infection with antibiotics.

“It feels strange not to be able to perform these ‘Million Dollar Piano’ concerts at The Colosseum,” he said in a statement. “All I can say to the fans is sorry I can’t be with you. I hope to see you soon at this wonderful theatre at Ceasars Palace.”
The singer also noted that he’ll be returning to the Vegas venue in October for “eleven concerts soon to be scheduled.”
The cancellation affects ticketholders hoping to catch the show Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
