“The Defenders” cast got Elektra-fied on Monday morning with the announcement that Elodie Young will reprise her role as the female assassin from “Daredevil.”
Fans of the series’ second season will recall that Elektra was the love interest of Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil. But an evil clan of ninjas known as The Hand went after her, as she was also a mysterious entity known as the Black Sky. She appeared to die at the end of Season 2, but The Hand placed her body in a regenerative chamber.
Does this mean that Elektra will return as a villain in “The Defenders,” or will her love for Matt outweigh pressure from The Hand?
Young is the latest supporting cast member from the various Marvel-Netflix shows to join the upcoming crossover event series.
Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple), Simone Missick (Det. Misty Knight, “Luke Cage”), Eka Darville (Malcolm, “Jessica Jones”), Scott Glenn (Stick, “Daredevil”), Rachael Taylor (Trish Walker, “Jessica Jones”), Carrie-Ann Moss (Jeri Hogarth, “Jessica Jones”), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson, “Daredevil”), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page, “Daredevil”) and Jessica Henwick (Colleen Wing, “Iron Fist”) will also appear.
The series will star Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Mike Colter (Luke Cage) and Finn Jones (Danny Rand/Iron Fist).
“The Defenders” does not have a premiere date, but is expected to debut in late 2017 following the premiere of “Iron Fist” on Mar. 17.
