Elizabeth Taylor announced, via Twitter, that she’s heading to a hospital to have a medical procedure to repair a leaky valve in her heart.
“It’s very new,” she said in her posting, at about noon Tuesday, and involves “using a clip device, without open heart surgery, so that my heart will function better.”
Taylor, who was briefly hospitalized over the summer for what she said was “scheduled testing,” has been in poor health for years.
She began Twittering earlier this year at the suggestion of friend Kathy Ireland, according to her publicist.
