Elizabeth Banks will no longer direct “Pitch Perfect 3,” TheWrap has learned.
The news comes just three days after Universal pushed the film’s release date from July 21, 2017, to December 22, 2017.
Banks will continue to serve as a producer on the film, as she has on the two previous movies in the series. The actress directed “Pitch Perfect 2,” which grossed $184 million domestically.
“Pitch Perfect 3” will star Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Brittany Snow, with Kay Cannon writing the script.
Paul Brooks and Scott Niemeyer of Gold Circle Films are joining Banks to produce.
Banks’ upcoming movies include “Power Rangers” as Rita Repulsa. She is also attached to direct “Red Queen” and Sony’s reboot of “Charlie’s Angels.”
She is represented by UTA and Untitled Entertainment.
