A new trailer for Alex Ross Perry‘s “Queen of Earth” shows the eerie side of a lake house, as Elisabeth Moss and Katherine Waterston, former best friends, drift apart in a place that is supposed to promote tranquility and relaxation.
In the trailer, Moss’ character Catherine visits her best friend Virginia’s (Waterstone) lake house amid her father’s death and a breakup with her boyfriend. Wanting to reconnect with her, the two actually drift apart, and Catherine spirals toward delusion and madness as Virginia spends time with her new love interest.
The trailer depicts the psychological thriller as eerie and frightening as crazy things happen in the house during the exploration of broken women.
The film, written and directed by Perry, stars Waterston, Patrick Fugit, Kate Lyn Sheil, Kentucker Audley and Keith Poulson. Along with Perry, the movie was produced by Adam Piotrowicz and Joe Swanberg.
In April, IFC Films acquired the North American rights to the film, which premiered at the 2015 Berlin International Film Festival in February.
“Queen of Earth” will hit theaters Aug. 28.
