‘Echo 3’ Trailer: Raids, Explosions Abound in Intense, Action-Packed Apple TV+ Series (Video)

The Luke Evans and Michiel Huisman-starring thriller hails from Oscar-winning “The Hurt Locker” writer Mark Boal

A high-stakes special ops mission — complete with covert raids, fiery explosions and what seems to be an intense game of international political chess — is the subject of Apple TV+’s “Echo 3,” the upcoming action-thriller series from Academy Award-winning creator Mark Boal (“The Hurt Locker,” “Zero Dark Thirty”) and which premiered its first trailer on Tuesday.

The 10-episode show stars Luke Evans (who was just cast in Dan Levy’s feature directorial debut, “Good Grief”), Michiel Huisman (“The Flight Attendant”) and Jessica Ann Collins (Netflix’s “Clickbait”).

Set in South America with English and Spanish dialogue, “Echo 3” follows Amber Chesborough (Collins), a brilliant young scientist who is the emotional heart of a small U.S. family. When Amber goes missing along the Colombia-Venezuela border, her brother, Bambi (Evans), and her husband, Prince (Huisman) —two men with deep military experience and complicated pasts — struggle to find her in a layered personal drama, set against the explosive backdrop of a secret war.

At one point in the trailer, Amber is told by Martina Gusmán’s Violeta — a prominent political columnist —to not “fantasize about a rescue,” to which she responds, “You don’t know my family.”

“Echo 3” also features James Udom, Maria Del Rosario, Alejandro Furth, Juan Pablo Raba and special guest star, Bradley Whitford. The series is based on the award-winning Israeli show “When Heroes Fly,” which starred “The Boys” actor Tomer Capone, was created by Omri Givon and inspired by the eponymous novel by Amir Gutfreund.

“Echo 3” is produced by Keshet Studios (the same studio behind the original). Boal showruns and serves as a director and executive producer alongside Keshet Studios’ Peter Traugott, Jason Horwitch, Eitan Mansuri, Jonathan Doweck, Mark Sourian, Avi Nir, Alon Shtruzman, Karni Ziv and Givon. Pablo Trapero directed four episodes including the pilot and serves as an executive producer.

“Echo 3″ will make its global debut with the first three episodes on Wednesday, Nov. 23 on Apple TV+, followed by new episodes every Friday.
