‘Easy A’ Producer Zanne Devine Launches Pacific Northwest With 4 Films

Former president of production for Beacon Pictures has lined up inaugural slate for Canadian distribution company.

"Easy A" producer Zanne Devine is launching a Canadian distribution company with a four-film slate that includes "You Are Here."

Pacific Northwest Pictures will acquire, produce and release Canadian movies in theaters, disc and video on demand. It is based in Vancouver, B.C.

Besides "You Are Here," which debuted at the Toronto Film Festival last year, the slate includes "Charlie Zone," an urban thriller starring Amanda Crew ("Final Destination 3"); "Sisters&Brothers," a comedy also starring Crew, Cory Monteith ("Glee") and Dustin Milligan ("90210"); and "Rain Down," a drama starring Jessica Hill.

Devine, a former president of production at Beacon Pictures, executive produced "Cinema Verite," for HBO and "The Guardian" for Walt Disney/Touchstone Pictures.

She also was president of the Kennedy/Marshall Company, senior VP of PolyGram Filmed Entertainment and VP production and acquisitions at Universal Pictures.

Producer Emily Alden ("Unnatural & Accidental") is vice president, production and development for Pacific Northwest.

"You Are Here," the company's first theatrical release, was directed by Daniel Cockburn. It stars R.D. Reid ("A History of Violence") and Tracy Wright ("Me and You and Everyone We Know"), a Canadian actor who died in 2010.

"Charlie Zone," an urban thriller now filming in Nova Scotia, revolves around a runaway (Crew) trying to survive a big city's lawless "charlie zone." Michael Melski is directing, Brent Barclay and Tracey Boulton are producing. The film is funded by Telefilm Canada and Film Nova Scotia.

As the name implies, the comedy "Sisters&Brothers" centers on siblings. Carl Bessai ("Normal") directed.

Gavin Sanford makes his feature directorial debut on "Rain Down," a drama about a woman who fights to save her home and family from collapse.
