Eastwood to Direct Beyonce in ‘A Star Is Born’

Warner to shoot a fourth version of the diva-themed classic; a male lead is pending

Clint Eastwood will direct Beyonce in yet another remake of the 1937 classic "A Star Is Born."

The project has been in development at Warner for several years as a starring vehicle for Beyonce, with various directors — Joel Schumacher and Nick Cassavetes, to name a few — and several male leads — everyone from Will Smith to Russell Crowe — attached at one time or another.

Casting of the film's fading male star, last portrayed by Kris Kristofferson in the 1976 version, is still pending.

Will Fetters wrote the latest adaptation of the classic story, which involves a young up-and-coming singer who hooks up with an older past-his-prime performer.
