Joan Rivers will be spending more time on duty with "Fashion Police." E! is giving her a weekly Friday morning series devoted to evaluating celebrity couture.
The series will premiere with a special two-hour Primetime Emmy Awards episode Aug. 30 at 10 p.m.
During the 2010 awards-season coverage, "Fashion Police" ran as a series of specials starring Rivers.
The specials averaged a million viewers and posted 40 percent year-to-year gains.
The mother-daughter team of Joan and Melissa Rivers' red-carpet coverage was an awards season staple on E! until they left the network to do their fashion recaps for the TV Guide Channel. TV Guide dropped Rivers in 2007 and she reunited with E! at the beginning of this year.
"Joan took 'Fashion Police' to a whole new level of comedy and candor when she came on board for the 2010 award season and we are thrilled that she will be at the helm of this new weekly series," Lisa Berger, E!'s executive vice president of entertainment programming, said in a statament.
Rivers will continue to do awards show specials.
