Dwayne Johnson to Host New Athletic Competition Show on NBC

“The Titan Games” will pit regular folks against show’s Titans

If seeing Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s trailer for “Skyscraper” during the Super Bowl wasn’t enough, Johnson announced he will be the host of “The Titan Games,” a new unscripted show that will air on NBC.

Johnson will also executive produce the 10-episode series with Dany Garcia, which will give regular people the opportunity to take on the show’s Titans in a number of physical challenges.

“I wanted to create a platform that gave everyday people the opportunity to change their lives and do something extraordinary,” Johnson said on the post-Super Bowl edition of the “Tonight Show.” “With this, I was watching one of my favorite shows on TV that I was inspired by — ‘American Ninja Warrior’ — and we partnered with the creative execs of that show and … with NBC.”

The announcement was made by Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Reality Group, NBC Entertainment and Meredith Ahr, President, Universal Television Alternative Studio.

“Dwayne’s passion and drive for excellence, coupled with his inherent knowledge of all things physical, make him uniquely qualified to partner with us for “‘The Titan Games,’” Telegdy said.

Added Ahr: “As master of ceremonies, Dwayne’s contagious and uplifting energy will motivate and inspire our competitors as they get their own moments in the sun and unearth their inner champions.”

“The Titan Games” is produced by A. Smith & Co. Productions in association with Universal Television Alternative Studio and Seven Bucks Productions.

Arthur Smith, Hiram Garcia, Brian Gewirtz and Toby Gorman will also serve as executive producers for the series.
