The People’s Champ is not shying away from potentially defending “We the People” in 2020. (OK, pro wrestling fans, we know that’s a little more Jack Swagger than The Rock, but you get the joke.)
A recent poll showed that should he actually run for President of the United States in 2020 — something that is starting to feel more and more real by the day — Dwayne Johnson already has the edge over Donald Trump.
“This surge and the groundswell since then has really been amazing,” the wrestler-turned-actor told Jimmy Fallon on Thursday. “I’m so incredibly flattered.”
“A lot of people want to see a different leadership today … a better leadership today,” Johnson continued. Then he dropped this, which sounds an awful lot like a campaign slogan: “More poise, less noise.”
“I think over the years I’ve become a guy that a lot of people kind of relate to,” he said. “I get up in the morning at a ridiculous hour, I go to work, and spend time with the troops, take care of my family. I love taking care of people. And I think that kind of thing really resonates with people, especially today.”
“Three-and-a-half years is a long ways away, so we’ll see,” The Rock concluded.
