The irony of Lifetime's dramedy about a woman who gets a second chance at life and the show's own return from cancelation isn't lost on us.
Fans should be happy to hear that "Drop Dead Diva" returns to Lifetime on Sunday, June 23 at 9/8c.
Additionally, the series from "Bones" producer Josh Berman just revealed that it's bringing on a new angel. Justin Deeley has been cast to replace Carter McIntyre (who replaced Ben Feldman on Season 4) as Jane's (Brooke Elliot) guardian angel.

Fans may recognize Deeley, 27, from his recurring role as Austin on The CW's "90210." He also has three movies due out this year: "Thriftstore Cowboy," "The Wicked," and "Geography Club."
McIntyre will return for one episode to presumably resolve his storyline.
Series regulars Elliott, Margaret Cho, Jackson Hurst, Kate Levering, April Bowlby and Lex Medlin are returning. In addition, John Ratzenberger reprises his role as Kim’s (Levering) father, while Jamie Ray Newman is back as Grayson's (Hurst) ex-fiancée Vanessa.
Lifetime canceled "Drop Dead Diva" in January. But, the show's producer, Sony Pictures Television, in tandem with its fans fought to find ways to bring it back. The series was a solid performer for Lifetime last season averaging more than 2 million viewers an episode.
Here's Lifetime's description of what to expect on Season 5.
The series’ fifth season opener, entitled “Back from the Dead,” picks up from last season’s cliff hanger finale with Jane (Elliott) frantically searching for her missing fiancé Owen (Medlin), who disappeared after witnessing her kiss Grayson (Hurst) moments before their wedding. While both Jane and Owen nurse their broken hearts, Jane’s friends and co-workers also are confronted with their own life dilemmas. Kim (Levering) goes public with her pregnancy at the firm as Grayson continues to struggle with his feelings for Jane. Meanwhile, Stacy (Bowlby) is left contemplating the future of her business, The Pakery. Newcomer Justin Deely (90210) joins Drop Dead Diva as Jane’s new heavenly guide Paul, stepping in for Luke (Carter McIntyre) when he is called back to Heaven just after telling her that Old Jane has returned to earth. Now that Jane and Old Jane are both on earth, the two kindred spirits will finally meet face-to-face, creating one of the most highly anticipated Drop Dead Diva moments ever.
