Donut Shop in Ariana Grande Controversy Under Investigation

Health inspectors will investigate the shop’s practice of leaving food unattended

Riverside County’s Department of Environmental Health is investigating the shop at the center of Ariana Grande‘s donut-licking controversy.

Security footage from the Lake Elsinore donut shop Wolfee Donuts show the pop star apparently licking donuts she hadn’t bought. Health officials are not investigating the shop for the food tampering.

According to the L.A. Times, the health officials, with assistance from the sheriff’s department, will be looking into whether or not the shop has a history of leaving food out to public access. No charges have yet been filed.

The shop owner took the footage to detectives hoping to file a report, but the sheriff’s department will not be investigating Grande for any crime.

The former Nickelodeon star was taken to task on social media for the video, in which she can be heard saying “I hate America.”

Grande later apologized for the statements, saying that her comments were “taken out of context.”

“I am EXTREMELY proud to be an American and I’ve always made it clear that I love my county,” she said. “As an advocate for healthy eating, food is very important to me and I sometimes get upset by how freely we as Americans eat and consume things without giving any thought to the consequences that it has on our health and society as a whole.”
