Donald Trump took a break from campaigning in Arizona over the weekend to attack NBC’s “Meet the Press” moderator Chuck Todd.
“Sleep eyes @ChuckTodd is killing Meet The Press. Isn’t he pathetic? Love watching him fail!” the presidential contender tweeted.
Trump then took things a step further: “I hear that sleepy eyes @chucktodd will be fired like a dog from ratings starved Meet The Press? I can’t imagine what is taking so long!”
Todd bashing has become a favorite for Trump with his latest tweets continuing a theme of going after the Sunday show host.
While speaking to Bill O’Reilly this month, Trump criticized Todd and “MTP,” which he claims has been a failure in the ratings. In January, he called Todd a “moron,” and claimed people have been clamoring for him to replace the NBC political director as host of “MTP.”
Todd, like the rest of the Sunday show hosts, covered Trump’s ascension in the polls Sunday. Trump’s latest shot at Todd most likely came in response to “Meet the Press” producing a segment on Trump’s string of position changes over the years.
A variety of national polls have Trump at number 1 among Republican presidential contenders. NBC News did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.
