Donald Trump no longer believes the Electoral College is “a disaster for democracy.” It’s now “actually genius.” You know, since the GOP nominee won the United States presidency by winning a majority of electors despite losing the popular vote.
Of course, he also tweeted that he could have won the popular vote as well had he not been focused on states needed for an electoral college win.
“If the election were based on total popular vote I would have campaigned in N.Y. Florida and California and won even bigger and more easily,” he wrote.
OK.
Click here to see what Trump thought of the Electoral system just four years ago, immediately after Barack Obama defeated Mitt Romney when there were initial reports that the Republican might have won the popular vote (as it turns out he did not).
Fast-forward to this morning via the tweets below.
The Electoral College is actually genius in that it brings all states, including the smaller ones, into play. Campaigning is much different!
