Did Donald Trump’s Inaugural Speech Echo ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Villain Bane? (Video)

President Trump’s promise to give America “back to the people” sounded eerily similar to a quote from Batman’s nemesis

Earlier Friday, Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 45th President of the United States of America.

During his speech in Washington D.C., some very perceptive and clever fanboys on social media noticed that the President quoted a comic book villain best known to DC Comics fans as the man who broke the Batman’s back – Bane.

The President quoted a line from Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises” and promised to give America back to the people, saying “Today we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another or from one party to another, but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C., and giving it back to you, the people.”

In “The Dark Knight Rises,” Bane (played by Tom Hardy) freed prisoners in Gotham City and stood atop a car to address the citizens, saying, “We take Gotham from the corrupt! The rich! The oppressors of generations who have kept you down with myths of opportunity, and we give it back to you, the people.”

We’re not sure if President Trump intended to quote Bane, but “give it back to you, the people” is very eerie and awfully  close.

Of course, the Twitterverse didn’t miss a beat and jumped on the opportunity to weigh in.
