Former CNN host Don Lemon skewered Megyn Kelly as a “racist” and told her to “go f–k yourself” for being so happy that soon-to-be former MSNBC host Joy Reid had lost her job.
Lemon made the harsh comments in a video posted on Monday, saying, “Let me just say to Megyn Kelly, in my 30-some years as a journalist and my 50-some years as a person of color, go f–k yourself, OK?”
He then said Kelly built the second half of her career, following her time at Fox News and NBC, being a “troll.” Kelly currently hosts her namesake radio show on SiriusXM — a program that is also available as a podcast and as a YouTube show.
What set Lemon off? He was upset about an X post from Kelly on Sunday, in which she said “good riddance” to Reid, who she called the “absolute worst person on television.” Kelly also referenced Reid previously criticizing “white women tears,” after Reid in 2021 said “Karens” and “white tears” are “a thing” in America.
“Remember when Joy Reid laughingly mocked ‘white women tears’ as pathetic and offensive to her? Who’s crying now, Joy?,” Kelly said on Sunday. “Good riddance to the absolute worst person on television, and shame on NBC for letting it go on this long.”
That did not sit well with Lemon.
“She has a, you know, she’s an axe to grind when it comes to MSNBC. And also, you know, you know this whole — she’s racist, right? It’s just, I don’t give you the evidence — supposedly learned from and then spent every day after apologizing for it and being fired for it, then spent every day proving the point that she is a racist and not very supportive of women,” he said. “If you look, all you have to do — the evidence is in her Google search and what she says about women, how she calls them out all the time.”
Lemon then added that, in his opinion, Kelly is actually the worst person on TV, not Reid. A rep for Kelly did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment on Lemon’s rant.
