Doctors successfully amputated most of Zsa Zsa Gabor's right leg on Friday, according to the L.A. Times.
Gabor was hospitalized almost two weeks ago with an infected lesion that nearly cost the 93-year-old actress her life.
Doctors thought they would have to amputate the leg on Jan. 2, but instead began treating Gabor with powerful antibiotics in an attempt to save her leg.
Unfortunately, the wound wouldn't heal, necessitating the amputation procedure in order to prevent the spread of gangrene. TMZ reports that three-quarters of Gabor's leg was removed, starting just above the knee.
Last week, Gabor's husband, Prince Frederic von Anhalt, gave his permission for doctors to perform the surgery.
It remains unclear when Gabor will be released from the hospital, which she has been in and out of since suffering a nasty fall in July, when she hip replacement surgery. The famous socialite received last rites from a priest in August, when her health seemed especially dire.
