BBC released a new video prologue to Season 9 of the popular sci-fi series “Doctor Who” on Friday.
In the ominous clip, the Time Lord, played by Peter Capaldi, discusses an upcoming confrontation with an enemy he’s “known for a long time.”
The series will return on BBC in the U.K. and BBC America in the U.S. on Sept. 19. Jenna Coleman will reprise her role as the Doctor’s current companion, Clara, and newcomer Michelle Gomez joins as a new version of The Master.
The first season of “Doctor Who” with Capaldi in the title role wound up being the highest-rated season of the series on BBC America. Overall, the season averaged 2.035 million viewers in Live + 3 Day ratings.
The new season will also feature “Game of Thrones” star Maisie Williams, as well as appearances by Tom Stourton, Ariyon Bakare, Simon Lipkin, Ian Conningham, Murray McArthur, Barnaby Kay, John Voce, and Struan Rodger.
