BBC America dropped the teaser trailer for the 12th season of “Doctor Who” on Saturday, in honor of the 56th anniversary of the original premiere of the British sci-fi. And the short video hints at the return of more than one of The Doctor’s (Jodie Whittaker) old enemies: the Judoon and the Cybermen.
Watch the video above, which kicks off with our 13th Time Lord wearing a snazzy bowtie and introducing herself like James Bond: “The name’s Doctor. The Doctor.”
Along with Whittaker, returning cast members for Season 12 (the second season with Whittaker as The Doctor) include Tosin Cole (Ryan), Mandip Gill (Yaz) and Bradley Walsh (Graham).
Showrunner Chris Chibnall is also back, as is executive producer Matt Strevens.
Previously announced guest stars for Season 12 include Goran Višnjić (“ER,” “Timeless”), Stephen Fry (“The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,” “A Bit of Fry and Laurie”), Sir Lenny Henry CBE (“Broadchurch,” “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”) and Robert Glenister (“Paranoid,” “Law and Order: UK”). Glenister previously appeared in “Doctor Who” installment “The Caves of Androzani” in 1984.
No premiere date has been set for “Doctor Who” Season 12 yet, but the new episodes are expected to arrive in early 2020. So stay tuned, TheWrap will have more information for you soon.
