Pixar will release a short film based on the animated summer hit “Inside Out” this fall, Disney animation head John Lasseter announced during the D23 expo on Friday.
The film explores a father’s feelings when his daughter brings home her first date.
When Jordan, the boy from the end of “Inside Out,” shows up at the home of 12-year-old Riley, the movie’s human lead, her father flips out appropriately.
“There’s a boy in my house! Why is there a boy in my house?” Riley’s father asks her mom.
“Red alert! Boy! Boy! Boy!” Anger says.
Riley’s dad is angry until the boy says, “I play in a band!” quelling the emotions in Dad’s head. The two connect, joining each other in a round of air guitar.
“Jordan’s a good kid,” Riley’s dad says as they see their daughter off.
“Riley’s First Date” will be packaged with “Inside Out” digitally on Oct. 13 and on Blu-ray Nov. 3.
