The Walt Disney Co. announced on Thursday that it has shut down operations in Tokyo. The news comes as a nuclear crisis created by this month's earthquake and subsequent tsunami becomes a graver concern in the area.
"Our top priority is the well-being of our employees and their families during this challenging time and we will continue to closely monitor the situate as it develops," the company said in a statement.
Concerns have grown as emergency workers struggle to contain damage to the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.
The tsunami, not to mention director Darren Aranofsky's departure, has also put production of "The Wolverine" on hold.
News of Disney's actions was first reported by the Los Angeles Times.
