“Homeland” star Morena Baccarin has been cast as the female lead in Fox’s “Deadpool,” which stars Ryan Reynolds as Marvel’s “merc with a mouth.”
Tim Miller is directing the comic book movie, which finds Reynolds playing an assassin who undergoes a procedure to cure his cancer that leaves him twisted, scarred and super-powered.
T.J. Miller and Gina Carano will co-star in the film, which is gearing up to start production next month in preparation for an early 2016 release.
The identity of Baccarin’s character is being kept under wraps, but she will play Reynolds’ conflicted love interest.
Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick wrote the film, which Simon Kinberg is producing with Lauren Shuler Donner.
Baccarin currently stars on Fox’s “Gotham” and will soon be seen alongside Melissa McCarthy in Paul Feig‘s “Spy.” She’s represented by UTA, Seven Summits and Jackoway Tyerman.
