Netflix has released the first trailer for its new dark comedy “Dead to Me,” starring Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini as a pair of grieving widows, one of whom might be crazy.
Produced by Adam McKay and Will Ferrell, the series stars Applegate as Jen, a sardonic widow determined to solve her husband’s recent hit-and-run murder. She meets Judy (Cardellini), an optimistic free spirit, at a support group meeting and the two become unlikely friends despite their polar-opposite personalities.
The trailer takes a turn when James Marsden’s character — and the police — show up warning that “wherever Judy goes, chaos tends to follow.”
Described as “an addictive dark comedy that dives into the painfully unfiltered, weirdly funny waters of grief, loss and forgiveness,” “Dead to Me” is created and executive produced by Liz Feldman. It is set to debut on the streamer on May 3.
Feldman and Applegate are executive producers on the series alongside Ferrell, McKay, Jessica Elbaum and Christie Smith. Ed Asner and Brandon Scott also star.
