DC Comics Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns has confirmed that Green Lantern and the entire Green Lantern Corps will be joining the “Justice League” films.
At the end of the DC Films special that aired on The CW Tuesday night, Johns was asked to reveal something new about the League, and he decided to reveal its seventh member.
“We’ve been to the bottom of the oceans, we’ve been to ancient Greece mythology, we’ve been to the past and future Flash, into the digital world with Cyborg, we still got to go to space,” the longtime writer of the comic book “Green Lantern” said. “So the Green Lanterns and the Green Lantern Corps will be coming to join the Justice League universe.”
Green Lantern, one of DC Comics’ most successful properties, will join Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash and Cyborg in Warner Bros.’ upcoming “Justice League” films, the first of which is being released in 2017, with part two slated for 2019.
Images of Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Guy Gardner, Kyle Rayner and Simon Baz were shown on the screen, sparking rumors that The Justice League will have not just one but five Green Lanterns.
A Green Lantern Corps film has been confirmed for release in 2020, but fans of The Justice League will be happy to see them on screen three years prior.
