Sunday’s Daytime Emmy Awards on Pop were seen by nearly 900,000 total viewers over two airings, with the premiere marking the most-watched live event on Pop in eight years.

The viewership broke down like this: 719,000 watched the debut; 165,000 tuned in for the repeat. Those numbers are fast nationals, and thus subject to change in the finals.

The last live event on the former TV Guide channel to top that was the Academy Awards premiere of “Live on the Red Carpet with Joan and Melissa.” For a recent comparison, the Daytime Emmys beat the recent TV Land Awards on TV Land by double digits in both total viewers and adults 18-49, when considering the premiere and repeat telecasts.

On Twitter, the Daytime Emmy Awards were the second highest ranked show by Nielsen, placing runner-up to HBO’s “Game of Thrones.” It bested the 2015 Radio Disney Music Awards, “WWE Extreme Rules” and “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” by that metric.

Pop aired two telecasts of the 42nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards on Sunday, April 26, including a live broadcast at 8 p.m. ET, with a repeat at 11. The telecast was a collaboration between the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS), Pop and Michael Levitt Productions.
