David Muir is getting used to the evening news grind, and younger viewers are responding favorably.

For October, “World News Tonight” with Muir won in the 25-54 demo over “Nightly News” with Brian Williams by 74,000 viewers; 2,087,000 to 2,013,000. “CBS Evening News” with Scott Pelley ranked third with 1,565,000 viewers.
Williams led in total viewers by a comfortable margin of 413,000 viewers; 8,524,000 viewers to 8,111,000. Pelley again was a distant third with 6,452,000 viewers.

For the week of Oct. 27, Muir’s broadcast won its 11th week in a row in the demo, averaging 1,981,000 viewers compared to “Nightly’s” 1,918,000. Williams was again highest-rated in total viewers, drawing 8,687,000 viewers to Muir’s 8,112,000. It’s the 268th consecutive week Williams has won total viewers.
