Never shy of saying something eye-raising, “Twin Peaks” creator David Lynch thinks Donald Trump could go down as one of the greatest presidents in history. No, really.

“He could go down as one of the greatest presidents in history because he has disrupted the thing so much,” Lynch said of the political establishment in a wide-ranging interview with The Guardian. “No one is able to counter this guy in an intelligent way.”

But that doesn’t mean he approves of the job Trump has done thus far. Lynch explained his stance by arguing that Trump’s rise has pointed out how flawed the system and politicians have been, which has opened the door for other, better, political outsiders.

“Our so-called leaders can’t take the country forward, can’t get anything done. Like children, they are. Trump has shown all this,” Lynch continued.

Lynch doesn’t quite remember who he voted for in the 2016 election. He told The Guardian he thinks he voted Libertarian (so don’t expect him to start sporting a MAGA hat). He does, however, remember voting for Bernie Sanders over Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary.

“I am not really a political person, but I really like the freedom to do what you want to do,” he said.
