David Hasselhoff played a brief but memorable cameo in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” and lent his voice to the wonderfully cheesy disco song “Guardians Inferno,” which played over the movie’s end credits. Now, to mark the film’s release on Blu-Ray this month, director James Gunn has released a new music video starring him, Hasselhoff and the “GotG” cast in all their standard-definition disco glory.
There are many moments that are going to leave Marvel fans howling with laughter, including Gunn mimicking a drum solo, Hasselhoff crooning about Rocket and Groot in his signature, clownish style and, of course, a special appearance from Stan Lee. But the crowning moment of the video might be Drax himself, Dave Bautista, rocking out while wearing shiny pants, cardboard wings and an afro wig.
The “Guardians of the Galaxy” cast will return next year in “Avengers: Infinity War,” which got a D23 and Comic-Con exclusive trailer that saw the Guardians get their first big crossover moment via an unexpected encounter with Thor. Gunn will also be back soon to direct “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” which will be released in 2020.
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” is available on digital release this Tuesday and will be released on Blu-Ray on Aug. 22.
