David Goyer Signs Overall Deal With Skydance Television

He is showrunner on Skydance’s upcoming Apple TV+ drama “Foundation”

Skydance is expanding its relationship with David Goyer, signing the “Batman Begins” and “Man of Steel” screenwriter to an exclusive multi-year overall TV deal.

Under the deal, Goyer and his Phantom Four production company will create, develop and produce original scripted series for the studio. Goyer is currently showrunner on Skydance’s “Foundation” for Apple TV+, based on the Isaac Asimov novel series.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Throughout his career, David has proven time and again he is a one-of-a-kind visionary talent as a storyteller and producer for both the big and small screen,” Marcy Ross, president, Skydance Television, said. “David is masterful at bringing to life epic stories and creating massive worlds and we couldn’t be more excited to continue our collaboration with him.”

Goyer had previously had a first-look deal with IM Global and was with Universal TV before that.

“I am thrilled to expand my partnership with David, Dana, Marcy and the entire team at Skydance where I’ve had the pleasure of working with them on both features and now television,” said Goyer. “In David Ellison, I’ve found a kindred spirit. His love for science fiction and world-building is deep and genuine and I feel very much at home collaborating with him.”

Goyer is known for co-writing the screenplay with Christopher Nolan for “Batman Begins,” and for writing “Man of Steel,” which was directed by Zack Snyder. He also co-wrote “Batman v Superman” with Chris Terrio. Goyer was one of the writers for Tim Miller’s upcoming “Terminator: Dark Fate,” which is produced by Skydance. He also serves as a producer for Skydance’s “Ghost Draft” that stars Chris Pratt and Yvonne Strahovski, as well as Fox Searchlight’s “Antlers.”

On the TV side, Goyer has created Syfy’s “Krypton,” ABC’s “Flashforward,” NBC’s “Constantine” and “Da Vinci’s Demons” for Starz. He also serves as executive producer on Neil Gaiman’s “The Sandman” for Netflix. Skydance Television’s current series include Amazon’s “Jack Ryan,” Netflix’s “Grace & Frankie” and “Altered Carbon,” and AT&T Audience Network’s “Condor.”
