(Spoiler alert: Do not read on if you don’t want to know what happens in “Dark Phoenix.”)
Even though “Dark Phoenix” director Simon Kinberg has hinted at one major twist of the movie in the past, the cast of the upcoming “X-Men” installment was surprised when host Jimmy Kimmel alluded to the plot point on Tuesday night.
“Yeah, I was told not to say that …,” Sophie Turner, who plays Jean Grey in the movie, said to Kimmel.
Nicholas Hoult, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Turner, Tye Sheridan and Jessica Chastain appeared on the show to talk to the new “X-Men” installment, which opens Friday.
We repeat, do not read on if you don’t want to know what happens in “Dark Phoenix” or what was said on last night’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Stop reading now.
“This is not a spoiler but we know Jennifer’s character, Raven, gets killed in this movie,” Kimmel says, and the cast’s reactions range from shocked to squirmy.
“They’re like, ‘uhhh … yeah it was,’” Lawrence said.
Kimmel then asked how emotional the scene was for them to shoot, and Lawrence explained that Turner’s “dialect coach right before took her JUUL away,” so “she started genuinely tearing up — it was like the performance of the year.”
People watching the video on YouTube weren’t too happy with Kimmel revealing such a big spoiler of the movie, writing, “Ummm…..HOW exactly is that NOT a spoiler?” and “he gave us a big spoiler.. I didn’t know anything about it so that I could watch it spoiler free.”
However, one viewer wrote, “then again, a lot of people guessed that this was coming, but guessing isn’t the same as an actual confirmation.”
People on Twitter also witnessed the hiccup.
