There was a three-way tie at the top of the leaderboard on week three of “Dancing With the Stars” between Charli D’Amelio, Wayne Brady, and Gabby Windey as the stars danced to James Bond movie theme songs for Bond Night.

While Vinny Guadagnino earned the lowest scores of the evening, he was saved by the audience vote, who loved his spirited, if not technically perfect, rumba to “Thunderball.” Cohost Alfonso Ribiero gave Vinny to respond to Len Goodman’s “blocky” critique by doing his own review as the Brit: “It was rubbish, but he knocked my socks off,” said a game Vinny in his best British accent.
Former “Charlie’s Angels” star Cheryl Ladd and her partner Louis van Amstel have been eliminated from the competition, with all four judges opting to save Sam Champion & Cheryl Burke. Len, who said he was glad he saved her last week so she could perform her “Diamonds Are Forever” rumba, did not end up having to cast his vote, but said he would have given it to Sam Champion.
Selma Blair, who has multiple sclerosis, often gets sensory overload from the noise and lights, so her partner Sasha Farber decided to blindfold her to help reduce the amount of stimuli during their performance. The judges praised her rumba, which was set to “For Your Eyes Only.”
Co-host Tyra Banks said the dance made her think of “50 Shades of Grey,” while judge Bruno Tonioli said it was “intensely romantic and a bit risqué.”
Derek Hough and the pro dancers gave us a fiery “Live and Let Die” number to open up the show, followed by Charli D’Amelio and Mark Ballas’ sultry rumba to “No Time To Die.” He was made up with a scarred face and a white contact lens to play the villain who tries to poison her, but not before she slips him the deadly drink. Bruno raved that she was a true femme fatale and gave her the first 9 of the season, while Carrie Ann Inaba gushed, “You take my breath away.”
Despite his bad knees, Wayne Brady was a “smooth operator,” as Bruno dubbed him, in a Bond routine that had him beating up baddies with a briefcase in his entrance. Bruno declared it “the best tango of the night,” and Derek praised his “amazing poise.”
Gabby Windey said she planned to channel Bond Girl Halle Berry into her cha cha… and also told partner Val Chmerkovskiy that being a woman means “my super power is my uterus.” Len told her her dance was “really lovely,” adding, “See you next week.”
After his shirtless dance last week, Bruno said that the tuxedoed Trevor Donovan was “overdressed” this week to which Donovan replied, “Bruno, behave.” Derek said he thought the “90210” alum might be the “dark horse” of this season, but he finished in the bottom half of the leaderboard.
“CODA” star Daniel Durant and partner Britt Stewart delivered one of the sexiest dances of the evening, a rumba set to “The World Is Not Enough.” Carrie Ann raved that it was “sexy and brilliantly performed” and that his technique was “mind-blowing.” Derek said Daniel was “an absolute leading man,” while Bruno said, “It was like watching Daniel Craig.” The actor later told Alfonso he’d love to be in a Bond film.
Tyra suggested that Shangela might also end up in the franchise as “the very first drag queen Bond girl,” after her “Goldeneye” rumba. Len said it was “a tad on the sexy side,” but Carrie Ann declared, “Damn, girl, that was fierce, that is the living definition of fierce.”
Len told Jordin Sparks, that her tango was her “best dance” so far, but that she needed to work on her turns. The singer, who thought she wouldn’t be sexy enough for the dance, was “smoldering,” said Bruno.
Country singer Jessie James Decker was painted gold for her “Goldfinger” rumba, but landed in fourth place.
