It’s time to put on your boogie shoes.
“Rhoda” star Valerie Harper, “King of Queens” star and Scientology refugee Leah Remini, rock progeny Jack Osbourne and “Jersey Shore” doyenne “Snooki” will cut a rug on the upcoming season of “Dancing With the Stars.”
Other celebrities who will do battle for the Mirrorball include Bill Nye “The Science Guy,” “Glee”s’ Amber Riley , Disney Channel actor Corbin Bleu, Footballer Keyshawn Johnson and “Saved by the Bell” and “Showgirl”s’ Elizabeth Berkley Lauren.
Harper and Osbourne have battled health problems recently — she is suffering from terminal brain cancer and he has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis — that have kept them in the public eye.
In an interview with People, Harper said she was feeling much better and that brain scans had revealed that there was less of a presence of cancer in her body. She sound excited about the prospect of showing off her moves.
“When they asked, I thought, ‘Why would I say no?’ ” Harper told the magazine. “When life asks you to dance, you just have to dance.”
Remini has also generated her fair of attention recently after announcing that she has parted ways with Scientology and announcing plans to pen a memoir about her experiences with the religion.
The list of contenders also includes funny man Bill Engvall, Brant Daugherty of “Pretty Little Liars,” and Christina Milan. The contestants were announced in a clever bit of cross-network promotion on the Wednesday edition of “Good Morning America.”
The new season kicks off Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on ABC.
