Dana Carvey Debuts Elon Musk Impression to Go With Pitch-Perfect Trump, Bill Maher Can’t Take It | Video

“I’m working on it,” Carvey said after he tried out his Musk impersonation on “Real Time With Bill Maher”

“Real Time With Bill Maher” turned into “The Dana Carvey Show” as the comedian and versatile impersonator broke out his still-in-progess Elon Musk.

“Welcome to ‘The Dana Carvey Show,’” Carvey joked at the top of “Real Time With Bill Maher” on Friday night, before Maher could say a word. “My guest is Bill Maher.”

From there, Maher barely got an utterance in edgewise, as Carvey launched right into his new impression.

“So, Trump’s there,” Carvey said. “He’s got the tie. And then Elon is up there talking, right? And I don’t really do it yet, but I’m working on it, okay?”

And then he gave it a go, in Elon voice and facial mode: “Uh, we — we got to go to Mars. We’re going to Mars, and uh, because it comes to save life on planet Earth, we got to go to Mars. This should be really cool, okay?”

Maher, scarcely in control of himself, could manage only an “Mmhm,” before Carvey switched over to his now highly polished Trump impersonation.

“And then you’re good,” Carvey said. “And then they say, ‘President Trump.’ And Trump goes [now in Trump voice]: “‘What he said! What he said! What he said! He’s a smart cookie. He’s a tough cookie. He’s a — he’s a Cookie Monster. This is why he’s smart. Everybody talks about it. He’s like a ship so high. Excuse me, excuse me, everybody knows it.’”

As it goes when Carvey is the guest, it was all Carvey, all the time.

“Now, this — this is why hosts feel so superfluous when you are on,” Maher said.
