Dan Harmon could return to make "Community" weird again.
Well, weirder, at least. A person familiar with the situation told TheWrap that Sony, which produces the show, is considering bringing back Harmon, who created it and was fired after its third season.
Harmon first raised the possibility during a weekend live taping of his Harmontown podcast, according to Hollywookie, which was in attendance.
The site, a self-described "nerd's guide to Hollywood," said Harmon initially said he didn't want the news to leave the room but later said he didn't care who knew.
Harmon (pretending to punch "Community" actress Yvette Nicole Brown, above) was let go amid low ratings, feuding with Chevy Chase (who left last season) and a reputation for running late on scripts.
He was replaced by David Guarascio and Moses Port, who focused more on relationships between the characters and less on the narrative oddities for which Harmon was celebrated. They didn't take out all the weirdness, of course: One show this past season featured puppet versions of the cast.
Despite continued low ratings, the show was picked up for a fifth season earlier this month.
Sony declined to comment, and Harmon and NBC did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
