Dan Brown, the best-selling author of "The DaVinci Code" and "Angels and Demons," revealed on Tuesday that his new novel, titled "Inferno," will hit book shelves on May 14.
On the "Today" show, Brown invited readers to guess the title via Twitter, using the hashtag #DanBrownToday.
The new book again chronicles Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon — Brown's protagonist in previous books — drawn into the hellish world of Dante's "Inferno," according to Amazon's preorder listing.
“Although I studied Dante’s 'Inferno' as a student, it wasn’t until recently, while researching in Florence, that I came to appreciate the enduring influence of Dante’s work on the modern world,” Brown said in a statement. “With this new novel, I am excited to take readers on a journey deep into this mysterious realm…a landscape of codes, symbols, and more than a few secret passageways.”
"Inferno" will be published in the U.S. by Doubleday and in the U.K. by Transworld Publishers, a division of Random House Group.
