The latest episode of TheWrap’s popular “Drinking With the Stars” video series brought “Dallas” to Los Angeles. Josh Henderson stars as John Ross Ewing in the TNT reboot of the classic primetime soap, the son of the duplicitous J.R. Ewing, made infamous by the late Larry Hagman.
Henderson sat down with TheWrap’s executive editor Joseph Kapsch to dish about the show’s Season 3. The two enjoyed drinks at the Riviera 31 in the Sofitel Hotel in Los Angeles, with Henderson looking just as charming as John Ross, but refreshingly nicer and down to earth than many of his Hollywood peers.
Midway through “Dallas’” Season 3, Henderson has gotten a good grasp of his character, who remains in the larger-than-life shadow of J.R. Ewing. But he teased that elements of his mother, Linda Gray’s Sue Ellen, lurk within John Ross as well.
“With Sue Ellen, there’s potential for John Ross to have a lot of demons that are gonna surface because of what’s going on around him,” Henderson teased.

Julie Gonzalo plays his wife Pamela Barnes Ewing, and Henderson would like to think that the two of them are meant to be together and stay together. “At the end of the day you never know,” he admitted. “When it comes to the relationship with Pamela, I definitely want us to be together, and she’s definitely not wanting that to happen right now.”

Complicating things in the relationship is John Ross’ mistress Emma Brown (Emma Bell), who he has strictly for business purposes. Things took a decidedly unexpected turn, though, when he found himself in bed with both women … wearing sexy matching lingerie. When it comes to Pamela, though, she’s always got plots of her own.
When asked if the the three actors laughed during filming of the racy scene, Henderson admitted it was difficult keeping a straight face during the infamous threesome situation, as the cast has become like a family. “To have to do that kind of a situation was hilarious, a little scary for us,” he said.

The actor recalled another memorable moment from the set, but not for the same reasons: This one broke two reinforced doors. Apparently, in mid-season premiere scene where Patrick Duffy slammed him against a hospital door, Henderson was slammed back so hard that two separate doors were broken in the first two takes alone.
“So Patrick Duffy’s still go it in him,” joked Kapsch to Henderson. “He’s gonna kill me, but he’s got that old man strength,” Henderson said of his co-star.
“Dallas” airs new episodes on Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on TNT.
