Is Bill O’Reilly — the scandal-plagued Fox News commentator who, along with Fox News, reportedly paid out $13 million in settlements to multiple women who’ve accused him of sexual harassment or inappropriate behavior — being targeted because of his deep pockets?
That’s the question that actor and comedian D.L. Hughley put to the listeners of his radio show on Tuesday, after multiple sponsors cut ties with O’Reilly’s show.
“We asked this about Bill Cosby, now we’ll ask about O’Reilly. Do you think he’s guilty or a rich man who’s become an easy target?” “The D.L. Hughley Show” tweeted Tuesday.
“I think that sometimes people have been targeted because of their wealth and fame,” Hughley offered during the show, though he likened O’Reilly’s situation to that of the AMC period drama “Mad Men,” where men had their run of things.
While a number of listeners were happy to render a guilty verdict against the “The O’Reilly Factor” host, Hughley suggested that O’Reilly might have few options beyond luring women into sexual situations with his wealth.
“When you look like Bill O’Reilly that’s why God invented three things: Midnight, alcohol and money,” Hughley joked.
Comparing O’Reilly to Cosby — who has also been targeted by multiple allegations sexual assault — Hughley offered a simple solution to the situation.

“I think we should just pass a law: Stay away from cats named Bill,” Hughley offered.
