CW ‘Heroes and Villains’ Tease Welcomes Back All the Usual Vigilantes, (Almost) Introduces Batwoman (Video)

San Diego Comic-Con 2018: The DC Universe reassembles + one

And they’re back, plus one.

On Friday, The CW released a trailer for all of it’s DC superhero-centric shows during San Diego Comic-Con 2018. Yes, a two-minute, 16-second teaser for the upcoming seasons of “Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Supergirl,” “Legends of Tomorrow” and “Black Lightning.”

The mashup even manages to fit in the upcoming “Batwoman” series, though we don’t actually get to see the titular character just yet. No, that big casting news is still to come before the character is introduced during the CW’s annual DC crossover event this December. But we do see Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl ask a stranger off camera at the very end, “I thought masks were only big in that other city. You gonna tell me who you are?” So, yeah, Batwoman is in the house.

Earlier this week, news broke the network has a Batwoman TV series from executive producers Greg Berlanti and Caroline Dries in development for 2019, with a lesbian character set to take over the role.

Here is the official logline for the project: Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope. Based on the characters from DC.

Watch the trailer above.

The DC Universe will return to The CW this fall. See the full list of premiere dates here.
