Critical Content has launched a new incubator program, Critical Labs, which will give 10 millennial producers the resources to develop new unscripted projects for traditional media, digital and over-the-top platforms.
Veteran TV producer Josh Bingham will serve as senior vice president for Critical Labs, and he will oversee all creative operations for the division.
“These days you hear a lot of corporate jargonistas throwing around silly catchphrases like ‘millennial-facing,’” Bingham said in a statement. “I only sort of know what that means, but every day I’m actually facing a room full of inspired millennials and empowering them to create shows and content that they would want to watch and engage with. Not sure if that makes me Doc Brown or Nikola Tesla, but it feels like we’re on to something.”
Five of the 10 participants have been selected so far, with the rest of the full-time positions to be filled in the coming months.
“Critical Labs harnesses the boundless creativity of a new generation of aspiring producers to turbocharge our development process, keep us on top of emerging trends, and make sure our shows are always totally relevant and original,” said Critical Content CEO Tom Forman.
“Critical Content now has 15 overall deals with the best and most experienced show creators in television,” he continued. “Critical Labs is our intentional effort to come at creativity from the opposite direction and grow the next unscripted superstars.”
