New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Twitter game has scored major points with the fanboy crowd, as she has responded to her critics with a quote from Alan Moore’s fabled “Watchmen.”
Responding to a story which published Friday in Politico about the House Democratic Caucus hoping to rein her in, Ocasio-Cortez tweeted, “None of you understand. I’m not locked up in here with YOU. You’re locked up in here with ME.”

The iconic quote was spoken by the character Rorschach in both the “Watchmen” comic and the 2009 film adaptation. Rorschach utters the line as he retaliates against the inmates in the prison after he was incarcerated following his arrest in the story. According to Heroic Hollywood, Rorschach is probably the most politically-charged character out of the entire comic and he bares similar parallels with the congresswoman.
Ocasio-Cortez’s army of followers makes AOC (as she is commonly known) an imposing adversary on the platform for all but the largest accounts. Her reach on Twitter — replete with journalists, looking for content — has made her one of the most written about members in Congress.
“That’s it, Alexandria you’re in the club!” “Breakfast Club” veteran Molly Ringwald said in a tweet after a video went viral last week of a high-school age Ocasio-Cortez performing moves from the iconic film. Fellow “Breakfast” veteran Ally Sheedy agreed.
“I LOVE THIS #TeamAOC,” she said.
