NBC's "Community" heads into Thursday's season finale without a renewal. That is clearly the darkest timeline for fans.
While it's always ominous heading into a finale with no sign of whether a show is returning, the series has seen several ratings bumps heading into its final episodes. Last month, the comedy saw four consecutive weeks of continuing ratings increases. After dipping for a week, the comedy saw a 20 percent bump in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic last week.

"I can't pinpoint one thing but I think any and all those things could be contributing to that," Rash told TheWrap of the show's recent ratings gains. "I do feel like there’s something that we’ve always had and been so fortunate to have such a vocal and strong fan base. I feel like we’ve always had the fans that knew when things looked like we needed to rally, they rallied."
Thursday's finale falls into line creator and original showrunner Dan Harmon's timeline for graduation. But, the darkest timeline will create havoc with the plan.
