Colin Farrell in Talks to Star in ‘Total Recall’ Remake

Len Wiseman is directing Columbia’s adaptation of Philip K. Dick’s short story

Colin Farrell is in negotiations to star in Columbia Pictures' remake of "Total Recall," an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap.

Deal Central first reported that Columbia had offered Farrell the lead role on Oct. 21.

Len Wiseman ("Live Free or Die Hard") directs from a script by Kurt Wimmer ("Salt").

Arnold Schwarzenegger starred in Paul Verhoeven's 1990 sci-fi/action epic, which followed a man tortured by recurring dreams of a trip to Mars. The contemporized remake will hew closer to Philip K. Dick's original short story, "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale."

Neal H. Moritz is producing "Total Recall" through his company Original Films, whose Toby Jaffe will oversee the project.

Farrell will soon be seen in Peter Weir's "The Way Back" and William Monahan's "London Boulevard." The actor also has the New Line comedy "Horrible Bosses" and DreamWorks' "Fright Night" remake on the horizon.

Farrell is represented by CAA.
