During his opening monologue on Monday night’s episode of “The Late Show,” Stephen Colbert supported women who might be insulted by reports that White House chief of staff John Kelly thinks they’re “more emotional” than men.
“Have you met the president?” Colbert said about an NBC report that Kelly has said “multiple times” to aides and to Donald Trump that “women are more emotional” than men. “Women have a range of emotions. Trump has two: anger, and you remind me of my daughter.”
In the same report, NBC cited “current and former White House officials” who said Kelly has called Trump an “idiot” on multiple occasions.
“I believe multiple times, because calling Trump an idiot is like Pringles — once you pop, you can’t stop,” Colbert said. “Also, he’s terrible for my blood pressure.”
Colbert also noted that, according to the report, Kelly has boasted, “If I weren’t here, we would’ve entered WWIII or the president would have been impeached.”
“Is that an either/or?” Colbert jokes. “‘Cause I could live with one of those.”
