Colbert Rips Bannon for Fat Shaming Spicer: Low Blow from Guy Who Looks Like ‘Sweaty Meat’ (Video)

“Late Show” host defends White House press secretary

“The Late Show” host Stephen Colbert slammed White House strategist Steve Bannon for fat shaming Press Secretary Sean Spicer on Tuesday night, saying it was a low blow “from a guy who looks like he’s either got the meat sweats or is sweaty meat.”

Spicer was criticized by reporters for holding his daily briefing off-camera on Monday but Bannon explained why in a text to The Atlantic: “Sean got fatter.”

While Spicer banned recordings from Monday’s briefing, Colbert joked that it’s a big change from typical Trump administration briefings where “only information is prohibited.”

“Introducing a cone of silence isn’t the only change to White House briefings, because it’s being reported that Sean Spicer may be out as press secretary,” Colbert said. “What? Why? When? Sean, I have so many questions, if you go, who will not answer them?”

The crowd erupted in applause and Colbert suggested it was because they “love” Spicer.

“Listen to the people,” Colbert said. “Sean! Sean! Sean! Sean!”

Colbert noted that Spicer isn’t being fired, rather promoted and leading a search for his own replacement, which Politico reported earlier in the week. However, Colbert joked that Spicer is irreplaceable because nobody else wants the job.
