Coachella Bans Narcissists (and Selfie Sticks)

But smiles, sunglasses and cigarettes are fine

The Coachella Music Festival kicks off in the California desert this weekend, and if you’re making the pilgrimage, you should acquaint yourself with the rules before heading out.

Most notably, the festival has banned narcissists from attending, something Angelenos in particular should note. Along those same lines, selfie sticks are also banned.

The full list of things not allowed at Coachella is pretty long, and you can read it here. Highlights of the contraband list, aside from what’s mentioned above, are: drugs, skateboards, blankets, fireworks, “promotional items,” totems, kites, video cameras and audio recording devices.

On the flip side, Coachella also lists a bunch of things that are explicitly allowed, like cell phones — which, I should point out, often double as audio recording devices and video cameras.

Also allowed are smiles, cigarettes, human beings, fanny packs and chewing gum.

Sounds like it’s gonna be a great time.
