CMT’s ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ Season 4 Return Released on New Viewing App Ahead of TV Premiere

Viacom launched the new app for iPhone and iPad on Thursday

Viacom is marking the release of its new CMT viewing app by premiering the return episode of “Sweet Home Alabama” a week before its television debut.

The new app is available for iPhone and iPad. Users can watch current episodes and full seasons of CMT’s programming anywhere and on-demand.

“With this launch, we’re giving fans more opportunities to access their favorite shows and characters, while at the same time providing new ways to work with our cable and ad partners,” said CMT’s vice president of connected content, Martin Clayton, in a statement. “This new app experience will immerse our audience in the CMT brand and allow us to deliver them new video content every day.”

The app works in conjunction with several providers, including AT&T U-verse, Bright House Networks, Cablevision, DirecTV, EPB Fiber Optics, Hawaiian Telcom, RCN, Suddenlink, Time Warner Cable and Verizon FiOS.

The fourth season of dating series “Sweet Home Alabama” follows Southern belle Kelsey Smith’s journey to find true love by dating city guys and country suitors. Available on the CMT video app early, it’s set to premiere on the cable network on Friday, Nov. 15 at 9/8c.

This is just the latest in Viacom’s push into second screen experiences. Last month, it released its music identifying and artist discovery app, the MTV Artists app. And, the company released the entire season of the football reality series, “Wait ‘Til Next Year,” on the its MTV video app before it premiered on the cable network.
