Caitlyn Jenner Joke Cut From Clint Eastwood’s Spike TV ‘Guys Choice’ Speech

Director’s crack over transgender reality star will be edited out of June 18 broadcast

Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood isn’t immune to flops, as evidenced by a joke the director made at Caitlyn Jenner’s expense on Saturday during the taping of Spike TV’s “Guys Choice Awards.”

Eastwood was on hand to present a trophy to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and during his introduction, the legendary actor-director referenced other athletes who went on to acting careers.

“[Like] Jim Brown or Caitlyn-somebody,” Eastwood said, referring to the former Bruce Jenner who revealed her female form last week on the cover of Vanity Fair. The joke failed to amuse the crowd, which included Salma Hayek, Jake Gyllenhaal, Chris Pratt and Rachel McAdams and will be snipped from the broadcast.

“We will remove the reference in the version that will air on June 18,” a Spike TV spokesperson told TheWrap.

Jenner will star in the summer docuseries “I Am Cait” for the E! network, where she’ll document her own transition and tackle issues relevant to the community.

“So many people go through life, and they never deal with their own issues, no matter what the issues are,” Jenner said in a promo clip. “Ours happen to be gender identity. But how many people go through life and just waste an entire life because they never deal with themselves, to just be who they are?”

The “Guys Choice Awards” evening, hosted by “Empire” stars Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard, saw honors for Neeson, Hayek, Chelsea Handler and Floyd Mayweather.
