Claire Danes, Hank Azaria and Sanjit De Silva have joined John Krasinski in the cast of the Off Broadway drama “Dry Powder,” The Public Theater announced Thursday.
The world premiere play by Sarah Burgess is directed by Thomas Kail (“Hamilton”), and begins previews on Tuesday, March 1. The play’s run has been extended two weeks to Sunday, April 24, with an official press opening on Tuesday, March 22.
Krasinski, Azaria and Danes star as partners in a private equity firm in the drama about the people shaping, and skewing, the American economy.
Azaria plays Rick, who sets off a publicity nightmare by throwing himself an extravagant engagement party the same week his firm forces massive layoffs at a national grocery chain.
Krasinski plays Seth, one of Rick’s partners who has a win-win deal to invest in an American-made luggage company for a song and rescue his boss from a PR disaster.
Danes play Jenny, Seth’s counterpart who has an entirely different plan: to squeeze every last penny out of the company, no matter the consequences.
The play features scenic design by Rachel Hauck, costume design by Clint Ramos, lighting design by Jason Lyons and sound design by Lindsay Jones.
